Prior to becoming an educator, Kathryn attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, from which she graduated with a BA in 2002. Kathryn began her career teaching at a private preschool in Weston, Massachusetts for three years. While teaching preschool, Kathryn earned her M.Ed. in Early Childhood at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After completing her degree, Kathryn went on to teach First Grade at a public elementary school in Andover, Massachusetts for eight years. During this time, Kathryn sought over 100 credits of continuing education in the area of Early Childhood curriculum, and continues to seek multiple professional development opportunities each year.
After having her second child, Kathryn experimented with different full- and part-time teaching position in the public school setting. Ultimately, Kathryn decided to open Curious Kids in July 2015 in order to focus on the aspects of teaching she likes best: connecting with small groups of students, helping early educators with curriculum development, and guiding the experiential learning of children through rich hands-on learning experiences.
